Man Utd AGREE deal to offload wonderkid – Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United are ready to offload wonderkid Facundo Pellistri, according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that the Red Devils have agreed a package with LaLiga outfit Grenada for the loan of the player.
The 22-year-old was signed by the Red Devils in 2020 from Penarol for a fee of €8.5 million but has failed to make an impression at Old Trafford.
Pellistri has played only 14 times this season, starting just two matches across all competitions, and has yet to supply either a goal or an assist during his time on the field.
Now Romano reports that Man Utd have decided to cut their losses with the youngster and offload him at a slight loss.
Taking to X, Romano reports: “Granada have agreed on terms for Facundo Pellistri to join on loan from Man United but deal now depends on Erik ten Hag’s green light.
“All parties waiting for final approval by the Man Utd manager, documents and also travel being prepared then… here we go.”
Pellistri heading for third loan
Should Pellistri leave for Granada, who lie second from bottom of LaLiga, it will mark his third loan spell away from the club. Both of his previous stints were at Alaves, who were also playing in Spain’s top flight with the 18-cap Uruguay international joined them.
Data analytics experts SciSports believe that Pellistri’s prospects of making it at Old Trafford are slim, with just 18 months left to run on his deal with Ten Hag’s side.
The firm reports that Pellistri only has the potential to be a rotation player at Man Utd, although at Granada he could become a key figure.
Ten Hag, though, might be loathe to give up the player on loan given that he has appeared on the bench in all but one of Man Utd’s Premier League matches this season, while their pool has been depleted by the departure of Jadon Sancho while Marcus Rashford’s behaviour has called his future into question.
