Romano provides important update on Sancho's Man Utd exit
Jadon Sancho is edging closer to leaving Manchester United on loan, but he is currently waiting to be given the green light to travel to Borussia Dortmund’s winter training camp.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that both clubs are currently negotiating the final details regarding Sancho’s loan move back to the Bundesliga.
The former England international, 23, left Dortmund to join Man Utd for €85 million in 2021 after a scintillating spell at the Signal Iduna Park.
Sancho scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in just 137 appearances for Dortmund, which earned him a big-money move to Old Trafford.
However, his time in the Premier League hasn’t gone to plan and he has been banished from the Man Utd first-team since a public bust-up with manager Erik ten Hag back in September.
Sancho was asked to apologise to the Dutchman in order to regain his place back in the first-team squad, but he refused and has not played a single minute of senior football since the incident.
A January exit was therefore mooted and he is now on the verge of completing a six-month loan move back to Borussia Dortmund.
Jadon Sancho close to Borussia Dortmund return - Fabrizio Romano
Transfer expert Romano has confirmed that Sancho’s move back to Germany is nearly complete, although it has not been finalised just yet.
He posted on X: “Jadon Sancho’s travel to Marbella to join BVB camp is being prepared — as final details are being discussed with Man United.
“It’s about [the] final steps of the negotiation but [the] fee will be around €4m between loan & salary coverage.
“Sancho, waiting for [the] green light to travel.”
Dortmund are currently on a winter training camp in Marbella and will play friendlies against Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar on 6 January and Belgian outfit Standard Liege on 9 January before they return to Germany.
Their first Bundesliga game back after the winter break takes place on 13 January away to Darmstadt.
