Which club should Marcus Rashford join if he leaves Man Utd?
Marcus Rashford has been a major talking point in recent days, with the England international missing Manchester United training due to illness just hours after allegedly being spotted in a Belfast nightclub.
The forward was also absent for Man Utd’s FA Cup fourth round win over Newport County on Sunday and Erik ten Hag has insisted he will “deal” with the matter internally.
It’s not the first instance of disciplinary problems regarding Rashford (he was spotted in a nightclub just hours after a 3-0 loss to Manchester City in November) and Ten Hag has shown he isn’t afraid to make bold decisions when it comes to such matters.
The Red Devils boss froze out Jadon Sancho in September after the pair’s public bust-up, while Anthony Martial has suffered similar treatment in recent weeks.
Rashford could well be next after Ten Hag promised to address the situation.
The England winger scored 30 goals in all competitions last year as he guided Man Utd to a top four finish, but his form has dipped massively this campaign.
Rashford has netted just four times in the 26 appearances this season and is no longer a guaranteed starter at Old Trafford.
Man Utd may not sell the academy graduate, but his future at the club certainly looks a little unclear after the Belfast incident, for which he could be fined £650,000.
Who should Marcus Rashford join if he leaves Man Utd?
If Rashford’s Man Utd career is coming to an end, it will be slightly shocking given he emerged from the club’s academy and has often been painted as the poster boy in recent years.
The England international would likely have a number of suitors if he became available, something that remains unlikely.
Data analytics experts SciSports believe that a move to Aston Villa would be the best for Rashford’s career, as per their Career Advice tool.
Marcus Rashford's most well-suited clubs
Club | Club Fit Score |
---|---|
1. Aston Villa | 79 |
2. Inter | 77 |
= Real Madrid | 77 |
The tool takes several different factors into account, including potential development and playing time, to assess which clubs best suit any given player.
While Villa rank top for Rashford, Inter Milan and Real Madrid would also be sensible destinations, with the England international potentially being an alternative to Kylian Mbappe for Los Blancos.
Rashford remains a key player for Man Utd, but Ten Hag must decide whether he is valuable enough to keep in the squad or if a sale is the best course of action.
