Man Utd join Arsenal and Bayern in race to sign Frimpong alternative
Manchester United are the latest team to express an interest in signing Galatasaray star Sacha Boey.
Boey, 23, is regarded as one of the most talented right-backs in Europe and he is currently being chased by both Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
The Gunners’ interest dates back several months, with Mikel Arteta reportedly keen on bolstering his options following Benjamin White’s inconsistent form this season, while Bayern were impressed with Boey in the Champions League group stage.
Thomas Tuchel’s side weren’t the only club to take notice of the Frenchman in Group A, however, and Man Utd have now joined the race to sign him, according to ESPN.
Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to bolster his defensive options and is targeting a new right-back and centre-back.
Matthijs de Ligt, Jean-Clair Todibo and Jarrad Branthwaite have all been linked as centre-back targets, while Boey is the latest right-back to have attracted Man Utd’s interest, as per ESPN.
The report states that the Galatasaray star has “admirers” at Old Trafford following his performances against the Red Devils in the Champions League.
Boey has made 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring two goals.
Sacha Boey: An alternative to Jeremie Frimpong?
Just like Boey, Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Man Utd following his flying form under Xabi Alonso.
The Dutchman would prefer a move to the Emirates Stadium over Old Trafford, FootballTransfers has been told, although he is far more attacking than a typical right-back.
In fact, Frimpong would more accurately be described as a winger rather than a full-back, and his role as a wing-back under Alonso suits him perfectly.
However, he is still being pursued by some of the biggest clubs in Europe and whoever misses out on Frimpong looks as though they may turn to Boey instead.
