Arsenal, Liverpool & Tottenham battle for €50m Bundesliga ace
Bayern Munich superstar Leroy Sane is wanted by three Premier League clubs, according to reports from Spain, as he continues to be linked with a return to England.
The Germany international, 28, has enjoyed a blistering start to the 2023-24 campaign, having formed an excellent relationship with summer signing Harry Kane.
Ex-Manchester City star Sane has scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions so far this season, and he is now one of Thomas Tuchel’s most important assets as Bayern look to beat Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title.
However, interest from England continues to bubble away in the background and Sane is now being pursued by Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Fichajes.
Who should Leroy Sane join if he leaves Bayern Munich?
Liverpool appear well-stocked in forward areas, but Mohamed Salah remains a key transfer target for Saudi Arabia and signing a replacement for Egyptian may be a wise decision.
Luis Diaz has filled in as a right winger in recent weeks, but the Colombian remains a more potent threat when cutting inside from the left. Signing Sane could alleviate that problem.
As for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, they were heavily linked with signing Raphinha before he joined Barcelona in 2022, while Wolves’ Pedro Neto was pursued last summer; it's clear a new winger is on their wish-list.
Signing someone capable of playing on both flanks would ease the pressure on Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, who have been overworked following the Gunners’ return to European football, and Sane could be that man.
Finally, Tottenham are also interested in signing Sane as they look to push for top honours with Ange Postecoglou at the helm. Timo Werner was signed on loan from RB Leipzig at the start of January, which proves that adding reinforcements in attack is deemed a priority by the Spurs board.
Out of those three options, data analytics experts SciSports believe Liverpool would be Sane’s best destination, although it’s worth noting that Bayern remains his best-suited club, while Real Madrid and Chelsea are also deemed better options than a move to Anfield.
Sane’s current contract at Bayern Munich is due to expire in 2025, meaning the Bavarians may be forced to sell him this summer if he does not agree to sign a contract extension.
The former Manchester City winger has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €50.2 million, while his peak value of €77.1m came in January 2019.
