Arsenal have 'very good relationship' with €50m striker target - Romano
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal have a great relationship with Joshua Zirkzee's agency.
The Dutchman is showing no signs of slowing down in Serie A. The red-hot striker scored again at the weekend as surprise packages Bologna downed Lazio 2-1, taking his tally in the league to nine goals and four assists for the season.
Zirkzee has become one of the Italian top flight's most in-demand players this term, impressing not only with his scoring but also with his general play despite being a towering centre-forward. The 22-year-old erstwhile Bayern prodigy is reportedly being eyed by a host of clubs ahead of a potential summer move.
Man Utd have been linked with a move for weeks, but their interest has gone somewhat cold in light of their enquiry about Bayern youngster Mathys Tel. On Monday, it was revealed that Chelsea have also entered the race. It is, however, Arsenal who are said to be his keenest Premier League suitors and they have now received an encouraging update from Fabrizio Romano.
Romano on Zirkzee
Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano revealed that the Gunners have a great relationship with Zirkzee's agency, Sports Invest UK, though he played down suggestions that they are the clear favourites to land the Dutchman at this stage.
“There have also been fresh rumours about Joshua Zirkzee, with reports in Italy stating that the Gunners are in a good position for this deal because they have a good relationship with the player’s agents,” Romano said. "The relationship is very good, for sure, but Zirkzee’s agents are among the biggest in the world so they have a very good relationship with many clubs, not only Arsenal."
"It’s important to see what kind of striker Arsenal want to sign this summer, if it will be more of an out-and-out goal-scorer or a top-quality all-rounder to play with the squad like Zirkzee.”
