Tuchel issues defiant Mathys Tel response amid Man Utd interest
Thomas Tuchel has insisted he sees no ‘conflict’ with Mathys Tel’s future at Bayern Munich, amid speculation linking the youngster to Manchester United.
Tel is believed to be high on Erik ten Hag’s wish list this summer, with the 18-year-old having been frustrated at his limited first team opportunities this season.

The Frenchman has made 19 Bundesliga appearances this year, scoring three times, however they have all been off the bench, prompting teams such as United and Tottenham to monitor Tel’s situation ahead of a summer move.
Bayern are understood to have held ‘positive talks with Tel’s advisors this week, with the youngster said to have contemplated leaving the Bundesliga side if Tuchel was still in charge next season.
The German manager, however, has confirmed he will leave Bayern in the summer and the club’s new director Max Eberl insisted that the club needed to allow players like Tel to develop.
But Tuchel reacted strongly to the reports, saying: “I am, was and remain responsible for the line-up. I see no source of conflict. In my opinion, [Tel] has never played as much or as regularly as he does now with us. So I don't see any conflict”.
Bayern looking to offer Tel new contract
Tel is considered one of the standout young strikers in world football currently, having joined Bayern from Rennes in 2022 for €20 million.
The teenager has three years remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena but Bayern could look to offer him a new deal this summer.
Despite the presence and form of first-choice striker Harry Kane, Tel is thought to be optimistic about his future at Bayern and is not pushing towards an exit.
