Thomas Tuchel will leave his post as Bayern Munich this summer after a poor run of results in 2024, which may save Mathys Tel’s career at the club.

Tel, 18, joined Bayern in 2022 and despite his immense potential, he has been unable to force his way into a regular starting spot at the Allianz Arena.

In fact, Manchester United and Chelsea have both been linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent weeks amid his lack of minutes at Bayern.

However, Tuchel’s imminent departure may ensure Bayern are able to retain Tel’s services this summer. A new head coach could view Tel as a rotation option once again, but his talent is immense and it’s only a matter of time before he makes a serious mark in senior football.

While an extended stay at Bayern is now more likely given Tuchel will leave this summer, is it the best option for his career?

Should Mathys Tel leave Bayern Munich?

According to data analytics experts SciSports, a move to Chelsea would be the best option for Tel’s career.

The Blues rank as his most well-suited club via SciSports ‘Career Advice’ tool, which takes multiple different factors into account before deciding which team in world football is the best fit for any given player.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are pursuing Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen this summer as they look for a more reliable goal-scorer than Nicolas Jackson, who hasn’t netted in his last eight Chelsea matches.

Tel would be a cheaper alternative, although he is far less proven on the senior stage and it would be a huge gamble if Chelsea pin their goal-scoring hopes on him.

However, he would fit their recent transfer policy of signing the best young talents in world football and could help the Blues compete for major honours in a few years time.

Liverpool interestingly rank as Tel’s second-best transfer destination, while Man Utd are third. Staying at Bayern is deemed to be the Frenchman’s fifth best option, behind a sensational move to Everton, where game time would be rife.
