Chelsea fans have urged their club to “save Mathys Tel from the shackles of Thomas Tuchel” following rumoured interest in the Bayern Munich wonderkid.

Tel, 18, is yet to start a Bundesliga game so far this season, following Harry Kane’s summer arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, but he provided an assist off the bench during the shock 3-2 defeat against Bochum on Sunday.

The young Frenchman was regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects following bis breakout at Stade Rennais, however his career has stalled since joining Bayern for €20 million in 2022 and Tel has now been linked with a Premier League move in 2024.

This season, Tel has mustered just three starts in all competitions, and all 18 of his league appearances have come from the bench.

Despite his limited involvement, Tel has still managed to score six goals and provide four assists this season, contributing to a goal every 56 minutes in the Bundesliga and Champions League combined.

His form, however, hasn’t been rewarded by Tuchel.

As a result, Chelsea fans have urged their club to sign Tel in 2024. The teenager is capable of playing through the middle or off the left wing, much like Nicolas Jackson, and Manchester United have also been linked with a move in recent weeks.

However, Chelsea supporters are desperate for their club to beat the Red Devils to his signature.

What have Chelsea fans said?

How would Mathys Tel fit in at Chelsea?

Given his extremely young age, Tel would likely be deployed off the left wing if he joins Chelsea in 2024.

The Frenchman has previously been compared to his compatriot Thierry Henry, who began his Arsenal career as a left winger before moving inside as a central striker.

Tel could follow a similar path at Stamford Bridge and his potential arrival could enable Mykhailo Mudryk to leave on loan. The Blues denied Mudryk the chance to join Bayern on a short-term deal in January, but it is evident that he needs to leave the club to regain his confidence.

The Ukraine international has been an unused substitute in Chelsea’s past three games, while he hasn’t started a single match since being hooked at half-time during their 6-1 demolition of Middlesbrough in the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

If Tel arrives, then Chelsea may be willing to let Mudryk depart on loan, something that would be greatly beneficial for all parties.

Furthermore, the Blues would be acquiring a player described as “exceptional” by the aforementioned Henry.

Tel possesses immense acceleration and close control, with his dribbling a huge attribute. In addition, the young Frenchman has proven he is a clinical finisher when given minutes at Bayern and he deserves to be rewarded with more regular game time.

A move to Chelsea could be perfect for the teenager and would align nicely with the Blues’ new transfer strategy of signing the best young talents in world football.

Tel is a superstar in the making, but he is being completely overlooked by Tuchel and a transfer away in 2024 appears to be on the cards.
