Wesley Fofana has vowed to “come back stronger” and “sort out” Chelsea’s season when he returns from injury.

The Frenchman hasn’t played a single minute of competitive action so far this year after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season, and his absence has been felt as the Blues have slumped towards another mid-table finish.

Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat against Liverpool on Wednesday night has ramped up the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino, with many fans calling for the former Tottenham manager to be sacked before the Carabao Cup final in February.

The west London club are currently 10th in the Premier League table, having picked up 31 points from their opening 22 games, and hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have all but disappeared following a poor start to the campaign.

Injury problems have plagued Pochettino, however, with most of his key players missing at least some of this season. Reece James has been badly affected by injuries, while Christopher Nkunku has barely played, Romeo Lavia has made only one short cameo and Fofana is yet to appear.

However, the latter has promised to turn things around when he returns to action.

What has Wesley Fofana said?

The ex-Leicester City defender, who moved to Stamford Bridge for €80.4 million in 2022, took to X on Deadline Day and issued a fired-up message to Chelsea fans.

After posting about Lewis Hamilton’s sensational switch to Ferrari for the 2025 Formula One season, Fofana received a quote tweet regarding Chelsea’s league position.

In reply, the Frenchman posted: “I'll be there soon to sort all that out, don't worry,” followed by another tweet that read: “I give everything in gym for come back stronger and better it's a long process but the best version of Wesley Fofana is coming.”

Fofana then posted a separate tweet on X, stating: “Big Wes is coming inchallah. Remontada Mode Activate.”

The Chelsea defender, 23, has missed 56 games through injury since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester.
