Thuram to Arsenal: The state of play - Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has given the state of play on Khephren Thuram’s potential move to Arsenal this summer.
The Nice midfielder is regarded as one of the most exciting young players in his position in all of Europe.
The 22-year-old son of France legend Lilian Thuram has been heavily linked to a host of top European clubs, including Liverpool and Juventus.
Arsenal are in the market for a central midfielder this summer.
Thomas Partey is likely to leave as he has one year left on his contract and has regularly been suffering from injuries. Meanwhile, Jorginho is now more of a rotation player and will continue to be so even if he renews his contract that expires at the end of the season.
Romano says there is nothing concrete in Arsenal’s interest in Thuram but he confirms that the Gunners are considering both Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad and Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa for the position.
What did Romano say?
“We’ve heard a lot about Arsenal wanting to sign a new midfielder in the summer, and one of the latest names being linked with them is Khephren Thuram of Nice,” Romano said.
“My understanding is that it’s not something concrete so far, Arsenal have made no decision yet. I can still mention Martin Zubimendi and Douglas Luiz as names on their list, but we’ll have to wait and see who they decide to go for.
“There is currently no news also on Thuram as it will also depend on how much Nice will ask for him – his price tag has not been decided yet.”
Thuram has played 150 times for Nice since joining from Monaco in 2019. He has also been capped once by the France national team.
