Liverpool to ruthlessly replace Klopp favourite with Real Madrid target
Liverpool have entered the race to sign Alphonso Davies, according to a report.
The Bayern man, arguably the world's best left-back, is out of contract in 2025 and the subject of persistent transfer speculation. Heavily linked with Real Madrid, the expectation is that the Canadian will be sold for around €50 million in the summer if Bayern can't agree fresh terms with him.
Los Blancos have allegedly personally asked Davies not to extend his deal, so as to make signing him easier for them. Real Madrid are unwilling to offer the kind of money other sides - including Bayern - are ready to put on the table for the 23-year-old, instead using their stature and past success to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu, just as they did with Jude Bellingham last year.
The Spanish giants, however, aren't the only side keen on the former MLS wonderkid. ESPN have reported that Man Utd have also begun taking a keen interest in the Canadian, while Man City's name has frequently been associated with him as well. Now, another club has seemingly entered the picture.
Liverpool also keen
According to HITC, Liverpool are also in for Davies despite being aware that his current preference is moving to the Spanish capital. Andy Robertson isn't getting any younger and the 29-year-old has missed a large chunk of this season due to a shoulder injury from which he recently returned.
Still under contract until 2026, Liverpool are not under any particular pressure to immediately replace the Scot, who has been one of Jurgen Klopp's best-ever signings, but the opportunity to swoop in for Davies for a relatively affordable fee could be tempting. His arrival would spell the end of Robertson's time at Anfield.
However, given that the Reds are currently without a sporting director and will soon be without a head coach, it seems doubtful that they will have a realistic chance of landing the left-back.
