Liverpool eye Robertson replacement at Premier League club
Antonee Robinson is back on Liverpool's transfer radar, with the latest reports suggesting that the Fulham fullback is seen as someone who can deputise for Andy Robertson and eventually replace the Scot.
The Reds have been linked to the 26-year-old before, but now FootballInsider claim that a formal approach could be made in the upcoming summer transfer window.
It’s thought that Liverpool's data analysis team, known for their 'Moneyball' approach to recruitment, is reportedly impressed by Robinson's performance across various key metrics. The 2023-24 season has showcased Robinson's prowess at Fulham, where he has excelled in not just pace and attacking contribution but also defensively. Robinson has been previously linked with moves to Manchester City and even Newcastle but Fulham have not received an offer so far.
The America international is tied to a contract until 2028 at Craven Cottage meaning that any deal would require a decent fee.
Will Andy Robertson stay at Liverpool?
It comes after Robertson has been a huge asset for Liverpool over the past five seasons but is not 29 years old.
He spoke after Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat away at Arsenal, saying via the club’s official site: “You have to process it and you have to see what we did wrong, and unfortunately there was quite a bit that we didn’t do the way people have probably been used to watching [from us] this season.
“We’ve been very consistent in the way we’ve played and the way we’ve gone about our business. I think [on] Sunday we weren’t that team that everyone has become used to kind of watching again.
“Yeah, it wasn’t a great performance; we didn’t start the game well and we go in at half-time and probably didn’t really deserve [to be level]. Then you start the second half really well and then obviously everything else unfolded.”
