Mason Greenwood is upset with the lack of support he received at Manchester United and would reject a return to the club this summer.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that Greenwood felt let down by United during his much-publicised legal case and has no desire to play for the club ever again.

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan last summer after United concluded their investigation into the criminal charges he was facing last year, which have since been dropped.

United announced that Greenwood would look to continue his career away from Old Trafford, having not played a game since January 2022 following his arrest by police.

New Man Utd part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed last week that a decision has still not been made on whether to bring the on-loan Getafe attacker back to United at the end of the season.

But Greenwood would not be willing to play again at Old Trafford even if Ratcliffe gave the green light to a return.

Greenwood is also said to be reluctant to play in the Premier League any time soon as he feels there is too much pressure and scrutiny, and would prefer to stay in La Liga.

The forward is said to be happy in Spain together with his partner and newborn baby.

Man Utd investigation on Greenwood

The 22-year-old was initially earmarked by United for a return to the first team last summer after an internal investigation by the club but these plans were shelved following a negative reaction to the speculation and Greenwood was eventually told to leave the club.

However, with his contract due to expire in 2025, United have still not decided what their plans are for Greenwood upon his return from loan, with the club focusing on the immediate steps to continue his career rather than the long-term path.

Thus, the door is still not completely shut on a return to Man Utd - even if the bad PR from any possible return makes it difficult.

Greenwood has impressed for Getafe this season. He has scored seven goals and got five assists in 25 games in all competitions.
