'GENIUS' - Social media reacts to Martin Odegaard's sublime Porto assist
Martin Odegaard has received heaps of praise on social media after he provided a special assist for Leandro Trossard during the first-half of Arsenal’s round of 16 second-leg tie against Porto.
Mikel Arteta’s side lost the first-leg 1-0 after a late strike from Wenderson Galeno, but Trossard levelled things on aggregate with a superbly-taken finish in the x minute at the Emirates Stadium.
However, while the Belgian’s name was the one on the scoresheet, Odegaard is the player who has been widely praised for the goal.
The former Real Madrid midfielder won back possession deep inside the Porto half, before playing the ball out wide to Trossard.
After receiving it back from his winger, Odegaard jinked past one opponent, sidestepped another and then threaded an inch-perfect ball into the path of Trossard, past the outstretched leg of Joao Mario.
Trossard steadied himself and buried the ball into the bottom corner.

The assist was Odegaard’s eighth of the season, matching his tally from 2022-23, and was certainly his best and most important.
Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were quick to share their appreciation for Arsenal’s Norwegian playmaker.
