Arsenal have put Kieran Tierney up for sale this summer with a price tag of €23.5 million (£20m).

Tierney was deemed surplus to requirements at Arsenal by Mikel Arteta last summer, and although he was linked variously to Manchester City, Newcastle and Celtic, the Scotland left-back secured a season-long loan to Real Sociedad.

The 26-year-old has made 19 appearances for Real Sociedad this start, 14 of them starts, contributing two assists in the process.

However, Tierney has continued to suffer from physical problems in Spain and has had two layoffs with hamstring injuries this season.

He was first ruled out of all of October and most of November with a hamstring injury, before suffering another hamstring problem which forced him out for a month in January and February.

In total, Tierney has missed 15 games this season due to injury for a Real Sociedad team who are struggling in sixth to qualify for the Champions League as they are 12 points off Atletico Madrid in fourth.

Arsenal to sell Kieran Tierney

Tierney’s performances and fitness in Spain have not convinced Arsenal that he has a future at the club.

His contract expires in the summer of 2026 so Arsenal wish to cash in on him now before his value plummets in 2025 one year out from expiry.

It appears improbable that Real Sociedad would cough up the money that Arsenal are asking to make the transfer permanent.

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic and soon developed into one of the best left-sided defenders in the Premier League. He excelled at left back and as a left sided central defender.

However, partly due to constant injury problems, Tierney’s influence and impact at the Emirates gradually waned.

He lost his place in the first team during the 2022-23 campaign to new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko, leading to him accepting a transfer to Real Sociedad at the start of this season.

Arsenal are now looking to offload him permanently this summer.
