The Swedish striker is enjoying an utterly absurd debut season in Lisbon. After joining from Coventry for €21 million - potentially rising to €24m - the 25-year-old has been on an absolute tear for Sporting this term.

In 39 games across all competitions, Gyokeres has recorded 36 goals and 14 assists so far, again impressing at the weekend with a stunning hat-trick and an assist against Boavista. Arsenal scouts were in attendance and they will have certainly liked what they saw.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that the Gunners have made Gyokeres their top summer target in their bid to land a new striker, but Man Utd have also been credited with an interest in the former Brighton man.

While the player himself isn't too bothered about the transfer speculation surrounding him, it seems that his club and agents certainly are.

Gyokeres to get bumper new deal?

According to A Bola, Sporting are scrambling to open talks with Gyokeres' representatives over a potential bumper new deal. The reason? Sporting want to raise his release clause, which currently stands at €100m.

In light of his outstanding form, the Portuguese giants believe that they can potentially get even more money out of a summer transfer. Sporting would be prepared to give Gyokeres a significant pay rise, though the money involved would still be a long way short of what he could earn at a big Premier League club.

It is unclear what the Swede's summer plans look like. He has thus far given no indication that he would be keen to leave Sporting in the summer, but things can, of course, quickly change. One thing is clear, though, Gyokeres will be one to watch in the upcoming transfer window.
