Chelsea continue to track the contract talks of Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala along with fellow Premier League giants Liverpool.

At 21 years old, Musiala is already one of the most talented midfielders in the game, but with a contract that expires in 2026, a window of opportunity is potentially opening for him to be taken away from the Bundesliga side.

Bayern, as well as Chelsea and Liverpool, are acutely aware of this and working to tie him down to a new contract.

“Jamal Musiala's contract extension is a big goal for the club, it's crucial,” Bayern director of sport Max Eberl told Bild. “There can be no other option for us.

“We want young top players like Musiala, Mathys Tel, Aleksandar Pavlovic and the others. But also experienced players are needed.”

Musiala’s best decision is clear

Data analysis firm SciSports rate Musiala highly.

He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €96.7 million, making him one of the most valuable players in the world.

On top of this, the experts believe he has the potential to become the best player in the world. His SciSkill rating is 120.8 but could rise to as much as 151.9. This figure is based off hundreds of in-game data points. For comparison, Erling Haaland is currently the best football player with a score of 139.4.

If he were to move to Chelsea, SciSports predict, he would instantly become the Blues’ best player. But a transfer to Stamford Bridge would also be a grave mistake, the experts say.

Using its Career Advice tool, SciSports show that Bayern Munich is comprehensively Musiala’s best location to develop his career.

Teams are given a Club Fit score based on a myriad of factors, including potential development, playing time, style, formation and others.

Bayern emerge from this process with a Club Fit score of 84 – well clear of anyone else.

Inter are the only team that get close with a mark of 77, while Liverpool trail in third with 70.

Chelsea arrive a respectable third, but with a score of 67, they are well off the suitability of FCB.

The Blues particularly suffer in terms of development, and while Musiala would get plenty of playing time, there is a feeling that they lack both the style and formation to get the most out of his qualities.

Signing a new contract with Bayern, then, would be the smart move for Musiala’s development – a result that will be music to the ears of Ebrel and his colleagues on the board.
