Liverpool ready to sign €70m star after THREE YEARS of transfer interest
Liverpool are hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Anfield side are keen on bolstering their midfield options despite last summer’s huge investment and Koopmeiners is one of their primary targets, as per Calciomercato.
Manchester United have also been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old and the Red Devils are said to have sent scouts to watch him in action during Atalanta’s 2-2 draw against Juventus on 10 March.

Liverpool have reportedly begun asking for information regarding a potential move and Jurgen Klopp’s side may start negotiations when they face Atalanta in the Europa League next month.
The Reds were first interested in Koopmeiners way back in 2021 during his time at AZ Alkmaar. He was sounded out as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, but Liverpool opted against signing him and the Dutch international joined Atalanta instead.

What has Teun Koopmeiners said?
Koopmeiners recently admitted that a move to the Premier League is something thay is certainly on his mind.
“Last year there was concrete interest from Napoli and the clubs ultimately negotiated with each other without results,” he said.
“I have indicated to Atalanta that I want to make a move next summer. But there must be something very nice to exchange for that for Atalanta.
“My girlfriend and I are having a great time in Italy but I can endure the rain for some clubs in England. I hope there will be great options that I can think about.
“And then I hope that Atalanta receives a nice amount for me, because I had a wonderful time there.
“I would be lying if I said that I did not hear the alleged interest from Juventus and Premier League clubs. Of course I read that too or get it forwarded to me.”
Koopmeiners has three years left on his current contract at Atalanta and is expected to cost up to €70 million.
