Mason Mount finally managed to score his first Manchester United goal, in injury time against Brentford, only for Kristoffer Ajer to go up the other end and equalise. The Twittersphere couldn't help but react…

Mount has had a torrid time of it since his £55 million arrival at Old Trafford from Chelsea last summer, with a calf injury restricting him to just four Premier League starts since.

He had made another five appearances from the bench, the most recent of which came in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Mount looked to have secured the points when he steered home in the 96th minute, have replaced Marcus Rashford a quarter of an hour earlier, but Ajer had other ideas, left with a simple finish three minutes later after Man Utd target Ivan Toney had wriggled free in the box.

Suffice to say, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, in their droves to comment on Mount's bittersweet evening…
