Liverpool steal march on Man Utd as they 'make contact' with England star
Liverpool have 'made contact' with the representatives of Marc Guehi, according to a report.
The Crystal Palace defender is one of the Premier League's most in-demand players. A mountain at the back for the Eagles, Guehi has gone from strength to strength since leaving Chelsea and this has attracted big-name attention.
Though still under contract until 2026, speculation surrounding the 23-year-old's future has been rampant in recent weeks, and Palace, braced for his departure, have already begun looking for replacements.

It has been claimed that a potential contract extension is completely out of the question, so Oliver Glasner's side will have to sell sooner rather than later. Both Manchester United and Liverpool are hot on Guehi's trail, though his ideal next destination would actually be Tottenham.
Now, one of those sides has taken the first concrete steps towards a potential transfer.
Liverpool make Guehi contact
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have opened talks with Guehi's camp regarding a potential summer move. The report claims that Liverpool "seriously consider lodging a bid for him in the coming months," though it is acknowledged that fixing the club's recruitment structure, including the appointment of a new coach, is the bigger priority right now.
Recent reports have revealed that the Reds have made significant progress in their attempts to bring Michael Edwards back to the club in a new role, with departing Bournemouth sporting director Richard Hughes likely to follow him to Anfield.

They will be crucial in hiring a new coach and taking care of Liverpool's upcoming business. Guehi could be a big part of the Reds' summer as they will probably have to look for a Joel Matip replacement. The 32-year-old is out of contract and currently nursing an ACL injury.
Guehi won't come cheap, however, with Palace keen to make the defender their new record sale. The current record is held by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined Man Utd for €55 million in 2019.
