Shock Premier League manager emerging as future Liverpool target
Gary O'Neil could come under consideration for the Liverpool job if he continues to impress at Wolves, according to a report.
The Reds are scouring Europe for a successor to Jurgen Klopp. The legendary Liverpool manager is departing at the end of the season and leaving behind some massive shoes to fill.
While Liverpool already know that Xabi Alonso will be their top target for the summer, there is still no guarantee that the former midfield maestro will actually leave Bayer Leverkusen. Additionally, there is interest from Bayern Munich, with the club's honorary president Uli Hoeneß recently confirming the desire to appoint the Basque coach.

Roberto de Zerbi is another contender on Liverpool's list, but he too is currently under contract. His Brighton future is uncertain, but it seems De Zerbi would prefer a return to Italy. His assistant recently claimed that it would be tough for him to turn down an offer from Napoli.
According to Liverpool expert Neil Jones, another Premier League managed could yet emerge as a target for the Reds, though likely not this year.
O'Neil to Liverpool?
Speaking to CaughtOffside, Jones revealed the latest on Liverpool's ongoing manager search and revealed that the relationship between new CEO of football and sporting director Richard Huges and Wolves boss Gary O'Neil could see the latter become a future target if he continues to impress.
“Edwards has always championed a data-driven approach to recruitment, and that will certainly be the case with finding Jurgen Klopp’s successor. Liverpool’s research team, led by Will Spearman, have already been hard at work, and there will already have been a whittling-down of contenders."

“In terms of names, it should not surprise you to learn that Ruben Amorim is well thought of within Liverpool, and Roberto De Zerbi is another strong contender...Edwards and Hughes also have strong relationships with both Eddie Howe and Gary O’Neil, but I don’t expect either of those two to come into contention for the role this summer."
"If O’Neil were to continue impressing at Wolves, however, then I wouldn’t rule out the idea of him coming onto Liverpool’s radar in the future."
