EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal open contract talks with Trossard
Arsenal are ready to offer Leandro Trossard a new contract at the Emirates Stadium barely a year since the Belgium international attacker arrived from Brighton, FootballTransfers understands.
Trossard joined the Gunners in January 2023 for a fee of €24 million and has since established himself as one of the club’s most important players. Though not a regular starter, he has contributed heavily for Mikel Arteta’s side as they have charged to the top of the Premier League table.
The 29-year-old has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and notably grabbed the match-sealing strike against Liverpool in February in what is increasingly looking a vital success for the North London side.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal have scheduled a meeting with Trossard to discuss extending his contract by a year from 2026 to 2027, plus the option of an additional season.
Sources have revealed that these talks have been planned since Trossard arrived at the club 15 months ago. He has always held a desire for his long-term future to be secured for the foreseeable future.
Indeed, the deal taking the winger to the Gunners nearly broke down as the player was unhappy with Arsenal’s contract offer in terms of its comparatively short duration.

Trossard, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €23m, is expected to be rewarded for his fine form with a pay raise in these contract discussions.
Arsenal have been very proactive in terms of tying down their first-team players, with only Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny out of contract this summer while Thomas Partey is the sole key player whose deal is up in 2025.
Gyokeres latest
FootballTransfers understands that although Viktor Gyokeres’ agent Hasan Cetinkaya was in Lisbon this weekend for Sporting CP’s fixture with Benfica, there is little to read from that.
Cetinkaya takes in most games the Sweden international striker plays.
Gyokeres remains Arsenal’s No.1 priority in attack for the summer transfer window, despite Sporting expecting the 25-year-old’s release clause of €100m to be matched in order for him to be sold.
