Benoit Badiashile’s first six months at Chelsea were incredibly promising, but Blues fans have seemingly had enough of the Frenchman after yet another poor performance in 2023-24.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from AS Monaco for €38 million in January 2023 and he immediately made an impact in the heart of Chelsea’s backline.

His line-breaking passes were a huge asset for the Blues and while the west London club’s season fizzled out with a mid-table finish, Badiashile was certainly an impressive performer.

However, he has been a completely different player this campaign.

Badiashile has only started nine Premier League games so far this season and while many of his absences have been due to injury, he has frequently been left as a substitute by Mauricio Pochettino as a result of his form in 2023-24.

His biggest error came against Newcastle United in December, with an awful touch leading to Callum Wilson opening the scoring in the Carabao Cup tie.

He was also brought on as a late substitute against Sheffield United, but was at fault for Oliver McBurnie’s last-minute equaliser

Badiashile’s latest nervy showing came in the first-half against Arsenal. He carelessly gave the ball away twice inside the opening 15 minutes, with the former Monaco man looking extremely shaky in possession and fortunate to not directly cost Chelsea a goal. His performance didn't improve as the match progressed as the Blues conceded five goals against Mikel Arteta's side.

Blues fans are baffled by Badiashile’s drop-off in form and are confused as to how his performance level has dropped off a cliff this season.
