What the hell has happened to Mo Salah?

Mohamed Salah is enduring a barren run of form at the worst possible time for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Only six weeks ago, Klopp's side were in the hunt for a famous quadruple: Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Now, it seems they will have to settle for the latter alone - an extremely underwhelming end to the German's tenure.

While the defence is also to blame, Salah's struggles have certainly played a huge part in The Reds' downfall.

The 'Egyptian King,' who has so often been counted on in big moments, has been a shell of himself lately.

What has happened to Mo Salah?

On the face of it, Salah has enjoyed another excellent campaign at Anfield.

24 goals and 13 assists in 40 games in all competitions is a return that most forwards could only dream of.

However, the former Fiorentina man has not been nearly as productive in recent weeks.

Indeed, he has not scored from open play in his last seven matches, nor has he provided any assists.

His only goal involvements in that period have been penalties in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United and the 1-0 Europa League second leg win over Atalanta (a 3-1 defeat on aggregate).

It is worth mentioning that he suffered a hamstring injury in February, while on international duty with Egypt.

Although, rather worryingly for Liverpool, there are no guarantees that the 31-year-old is not simply on the decline.
