Mount E, Hojlund C: Grading every Man Utd signing this season
It has been yet another disastrous 2023-24 season for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are down in seventh in the Premier League with no chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
They were eliminated from this season’s Champions League in the group stages, finishing bottom of a pool containing Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray. They were also eliminated early on in the League Cup with only an FA Cup final with Man City giving them a chance to get some silverware.
Manager Erik ten Hag is certain to be sacked at the end of the season.
Here FootballTransfers now takes a look and grades each signing from the 2023-24 season.

Mason Mount (€65m from Chelsea) Grade: E
Mason Mount signed for United from Chelsea last summer in a €65 million deal on a contract until 2028 for a massive £13m a year.
But Mount has been a huge flop at Old Trafford, suffering with poor performance and injuries.
He has just one goal and no assists in what has been a dismal campaign.
Mount also appears incompatible with Bruno Fernandes in the same United team, and there are reports he is unsettled living in the north having grown up down south.
This has led to some claims that United will look to offload Mount at the end of the season.

Sofyan Amrabat (Loan from Fiorentina) Grade: E
Man Utd will not trigger the clause to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently at the end of the season.
United paid €9m last summer to sign Amrabat on loan for the season from Fiorentina.
However, United have been left desperately disappointed by Amrabat’s performances this season and will not pay the €25m required to sign him for good.
He has struggled in his natural central midfield role and as a makeshift left back, making costly errors in the Champions League and looking a shadow of the player who impressed at the World Cup.
He will return to Serie A at the end of next month, and there is interest from other Italian clubs.
Sergio Reguillon (Loan from Tottenham) Grade: D
Sergio Reguilón joined Man Utd on a six-month loan last summer as emergency cover for the injured Luke Shaw.
Reguilón made 12 appearances with little success before returning to Tottenham in January where he was loaned out again to Brentford.
Jonny Evans: (Free Transfer) Grade: C
Jonny Evans was released by Leicester at the end of the 2022-23 season and trained with Man Utd during the summer to keep fit.
Such was the injury crisis in Man Utd’s defence he was eventually handed a one-year contract in what was a return to the club for the Northern Irishman.
Not much could be expected of a now-36-year-old well past his best but Evans has not disgraced himself as so many other United players have.
He has made 19 appearances and while he shouldn’t be anywhere near the United first team he has fulfilled his duties admirably.
Andre Onana (€55m from Inter Milan) Grade: C
Andre Onana signed for Man Utd last summer for €51 million - plus €4m in bonuses - from Inter Milan.
Big things were expected of the 27-year-old, who had enjoyed an outstanding Champions League season with the Nerazzurri last term, playing a key role in their run to the final.
He kept more clean sheets than anyone in the tournament, including five in the knockout rounds, as Inter narrowly and unluckily lost 1-0 to Man City in the showpiece in June. He was also heralded as the best goalkeeper in the world with the ball at his feet.
However, Onana endured an error-prone first half to the season. He has made a string of mistakes, in particular in the Champions League group stage elimination in games against Galatasaray, Copenhagen and Bayern Munich.
Onana has improved greatly in the second half of the season and this will offer United some hope of better things to come.
Rasmus Hojlund (€85m from Atalanta: Grade C+)
Man Utd signed Hojlund last summer from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 21-year-old struggled badly in the first half of the season, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas.
However, Hojlund started to pick up form in 2024 and scored in six games in a row.
He must still improve greatly but with 13 goals in his maiden season in all competitions and with a lot of margin to improve there are reasons to be optimistic.
Altay Bayindir (€5m from Galatasaray) Grade: N/A
Altay Bayindir was signed as a backup for Onana and has made only one appearance all season, a 4-2 win over Newport County in the FA Cup.
For this reason, Bayindir does not get a grade yet.
