Man Utd set Old Trafford RECORD in dismal first-half vs Liverpool
Manchester United failed to produce a single shot in the first-half of their crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Fresh from a dismal collapse versus Chelsea in midweek, Erik ten Hag’s side looked fatigued and jaded as Liverpool carved through the Red Devils’ midfield time and time again as they registered nearly 2xG.
However, Luis Diaz’s 23rd minute strike was the only goal Liverpool scored in the first 45 minutes as Jurgen Klopp’s team missed countless chances with multiple instances of poor finishing.

Man Utd were lucky to only be 1-0 down at the interval, with their attack unable to muster a single shot on goal.
In fact, it was the first time that Man Utd haven't registered a shot in the first-half of a match at Old Trafford since October 2015 - a 0-0 draw versus Manchester City.

Man Utd’s poor first-half showing versus Liverpool
Ten Hag’s side have been woeful at defending this season and they have faced 20 or more shots in each of their past five matches in all competitions.
However, while their defence has fared poorly, their attack has typically performed well in 2023-24, but that was not the case in the first-half against Liverpool.

They have scored in each of their last 16 matches, with their last blank coming in a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United in December.
Against Liverpool, Rasmus Hojlund led the line, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho playing either side and Bruno Fernandes in the No.10 role.
Despite failing to register a shot in the first-half, Fernandes netted a second-half equaliser with Man Utd’s first effort of the match. After a poor pass from Jarell Quansah, Fernandes hit a first-time shot past Caoimhen Kelleher to draw Man Utd level against Klopp’s side.
