Greenwood contract extension? Romano reveals Man Utd's 'priority'
Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Manchester United are planning to cash in on Mason Greenwood this summer.
The disgraced forward is in the process of trying to rebuild his career on loan at Getafe and has put in some performances that have made other clubs take note. The 22-year-old has notched ten goals and six assists in 31 outings across all competitions so far this season.
However, there is still a lack of clarity surrounding his future at Man Utd. When new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe came on board, he left the door ajar to a potential return of the former wonderkid. Journalist Graeme Bailey believes that this was just a clever ploy on Ratcliffe's part to strengthen the Red Devils' position in future negotiations.

Rather than saying 'yes, we don't want him,' Ratcliffe essentially told Greenwood's potential suitors - among which are believed to be Barcelona and Juventus - that they will need to pay up if they really want to land him, otherwise he will be reintegrated into the Man Utd squad.
To that end, claims Bailey, the club have also triggered the one-year extension in Greenwood's contract to protect his value and tie him down until 2026. However, this does not seem to be the information that Fabrizio Romano has.
Man Utd to cash in on Greenwood
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer expert reiterated that, due to Greenwood officially being out of contract in 2025, Man Utd's 'priority' for the summer remains selling the 22-year-old attacker.
"Man Utd's intention is to cash in [on] Mason Greenwood, to sell the player in the summer transfer window. Getafe hope to keep Greenwood for one more season, many clubs are interested in a loan, but his contract at Man Utd expires in one year."

"So Man Utd's priority will be to sell the player in the summer transfer window, to receive an important transfer fee and make a profit [on] Greenwood also because of Financial Fair Play. It will be crucial money to reinvest for Man Utd. They will definitely try to sell Mason Greenwood and to find a solution this summer."
