Amorim makes stunning future admission as Liverpool talks heat up
Ruben Amorim has admitted that he can't guarantee that he will be Sporting CP's coach next season.
Liverpool's coaching search has taken several twists and turns over the last week. After Xabi Alonso announced that he would be staying at Bayer Leverkusen for another season, Ruben Amorim crystallised as one of the favourites to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.
The Sporting CP coach has been doing an exceptional job in recent years and is one of Europe's most in-demand coaches, with Barcelona reportedly also looking at him. Indeed, earlier this week, it was claimed that the Blaugrana had stepped up their pursuit of the 39-year-old in light of Liverpool shifting their focus onto him.

However, it seems that this was wide off the mark. According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Amorim is not in line to succeed Xavi in Catalunya, but he is on Liverpool's shortlist and talks have already been held. “He is very much in the frame for Liverpool – not Barcelona – and conversations have taken place.”
Amorim admits future uncertain
Now, the man himself has once again been forced to address the speculation. After already hinting last week that "we will soon see what happens," the tactician has now dropped an even bigger hint that he could be on his way out.
Asked to guarantee that he will be Sporting's coach next season in light of Alonso's announcement, Amorim said: "No, I can’t. Sporting are dealing with their future and I will not go back on my word. First, we will win trophies and then we will see. We are on the right track."

“The future has been a long time in the making and we are outlining what it will be. I don’t want to dwell too much on the future. I owe a lot to Sporting and whatever has to happen will happen but there will be no pressure to leave because I owe a lot to Sporting. I am very happy here."
