Arsenal urged to sign €70m Premier League star
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes his former club would “go to another level” if they sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer.
Isak, 24, has scored 20 goals in 29 Premier League games so far this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months.
The Sweden international has even been compared to Gunners legend Thierry Henry, with the pair sharing similar play styles.

Although Eddie Howe has insisted that Isak isn’t for sale this summer, Merson believes Arsenal must pursue a move for the former Real Sociedad striker.
Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, the ex-Gunners star admitted: “They [Newcastle] are a massive team, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of their stars moved on to win trophies. If Arsenal sign a striker like Isak, I think they go to another level.”
Kai Havertz has started Arsenal’s past x matches as their designated centre-forward, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah falling behind the former Chelsea man in the pecking order.
EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal make Sesko priority target as Newcastle set to deny Gunners Isak
Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are currently Arsenal’s priority targets, FootballTransfers understands, but Isak has been admired by the Gunners for a long time.
However, Newcastle are determined to keep hold of the Swedish star and a summer pursuit is therefore unlikely.
Aaron Ramsdale to Newcastle?
According to Sky Sports News reporter James Green, Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale is set to join Newcastle this summer.
He told the Highbury Squad YouTube channel: “I understand and I found out directly from a player’s agent that one of our players is off to Newcastle and a deal has been agreed. One that has caused debate and divide this season.
“Do you know who I’m going to say? It is my understanding that Aaron Ramsdale has agreed to join Newcastle in the summer.
“That has come directly from speaking to somebody who I am very close with who has spoken to his agent and he’s said it’s done, the deal is happening.”
However, Ramsdale has seemingly debunked this rumour, posting on X (formerly known as Twitter): “News to me,” accompanied by a laughing face emoji.
