Benjamin Sesko's release clause is linked to his performances this season, according to German media.

The RB Leipzig striker has become one of Europe's most in-demand commodities. The Slovenian wonderkid is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming centre-forwards in the game and he has certainly caught the eye this season.

Sesko has netted a more-than-respectable 16 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions despite not always being a regular starter, particularly in the early parts of the season. Since the winter break, however, the 20-year-old has been an ever-present in Marco Rose's side and it seems that this isn't purely down to his good performances.

According to Sky Germany's Philipp Hinze, Sesko has a flexible release clause that increases based on the number of games played and his production in those games. This revelation has come as a major surprise as Sesko had hitherto been viewed as potentially one of the biggest bargains of the upcoming summer window.

Bargain no more?

When Sesko arrived in Leipzig from sister club RB Salzburg, the player insisted on having a release clause in his deal. With the player having been courted by Premier League giants, the Red Bulls had to accede to his demands in order to be able to sign him.

Up to now, it was well-known that the Slovenian's release clause stood at a relatively affordable €50 million. However, due to getting regular minutes and putting up good numbers, this release clause has already risen to €65m, according to Hinze.

This may not be the end of the increase either. The journalist has reported that the figure could yet climb to as high as €75m depending on Sesko's performances in the final two games of the season.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, AC Milan and Newcastle have all been linked with the 20-year-old. FootballTransfers recently revealed that Sesko had become the Gunners' top priority due to his price and it seems unlikely that this revelation will change Arsenal's thinking. Even at €75m, the striker would be significantly cheaper than the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen.
