Chelsea eye shock transfer for South American star
Chelsea have once again been linked with a transfer raid of South America, however this time it is not for a teenage wonderkid but instead a seemingly unknown 24-year-old playing in Argentina.
The Blues have spent a vast amount of resources in Brazil since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022, with the latest being a €65 million deal to sign 17-year-old Estevao from Palmeiras.
However, reports in Argentina have linked Chelsea with Ramon Sosa, who has impressed for Talleres this season, where he has grabbed six goals and five assists.

Sosa has three caps for Paraguay and TNT Sports in Argentina claim that Chelsea have ‘asked the conditions’ of Talleres for the winger after his performances.
Talleres are said to have placed a $20m (€18m) price tag on Sosa, and, while Chelsea are not said to have made ‘formal contact’ yet, the report claims an approach could be made in the coming weeks.
The president of Tallares has admitted that Sosa will be allowed to leave this summer, while Newcastle and Everton have also been linked with the 24-year-old.
Chelsea seeking quality at left wing
While Chelsea appear to be adding to their depth at right wing with the signing of Estevao, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled for quality on the opposite flank, where Sosa plays.
Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk are Chelsea’s two options at left wing but neither have been consistent enough to claim the spot as their own this season.

Sterling is amongst Chelsea’s oldest players at 29 and is the club’s highest earner but the England international has only provided seven goals and four assists from 30 appearances.
Mudryk, meanwhile, has yet to live up to his price tag since his €70m transfer from Shakhtar 18 months ago, grabbing five goals and two assists from 18 starts.
Although there is interest from Saudi Arabia in Sterling, the ex-Manchester City winger has shown no desire to leave Chelsea, while the Blues are unwilling to give up on Mudryk just yet either.
Consequently, the likelihood of Chelsea pursuing a deal for Sosa appears slim unless a winger is sold, however the deal could prove tempting at the price point for any interested sides.
