Chelsea must do EVERYTHING to convince Ligue 1 club to sign academy star

Ligue 1 club AS Monaco are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea forward Armando Broja.

That is because Monaco captain and first-choice striker Wissam Ben Yedder is leaving next month.

Broja spent the first half of the 2023-24 season with the Blues but only scored once in 13 Premier League games.

He spent the second half of the season on loan at Fulham, where he would have expected to be in the starting lineup.

However, he did not start a single league game for the West London club, making eight substitute appearances without scoring.

The 22-year-old has clearly not shown to enough to prove that he deserves to stay at Stamford Bridge.

This isn't a problem for The Blues, however, as they need to sell some of their academy stars.

Because they cost nothing, the entire fee received for homegrown players goes down as profit in the books.

So, Chelsea should be doing everything in their power to convince Monaco to sign Broja for around £15 million.

Chelsea could sell two more academy stars

Mauricio Pochettino's departure from Chelsea spells bad news for Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher, according to a report.

Indeed, it had frequently been claimed that Pochettino was prepared to take on the Chelsea hierarchy to stop them from selling the two players.

The Evening Standard now echoes this, reporting that the 52-year-old was "ready to fight hard to keep Gallagher and Chalobah at the club."

However, Pochettino's exit by mutual consent - informed, in part, by Chelsea's unwillingness to grant him more control over transfers - has now left the homegrown pair 'vulnerable.'

In fact, the above-mentioned report states that Chelsea are actively trying to push Chalobah and Gallagher out of the club as they need to comply with PSR by June 30.
