Pep Guardiola’s ‘TOP SECRET’ transfer regret revealed
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has a burning transfer regret from last summer, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Mundo Deportivo reports the “top secret” revelation that the Man City boss wishes he had not allowed midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to leave for Barcelona.
The Germany international was allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium to join the cash-strapped Camp Nou side on a free transfer after seven years at the club, during which he was made Pep’s first signing when he joined from Borussia Dortmund for €27 million.

Although 33 years old, Gundogan had been a key player for Guardiola’s side as they swept to a spectacular treble, and he has maintained his excellent level since moving to Barca.
Indeed, with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €39.2m, he is second only to Antoine Griezmann in the ranking of most valuable players over the age of 32.
The report states that Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes have both left Guardiola disappointed with their level, with the manager left once again pining for Gundogan.

Gundogan’s departure hits Haaland
Mundo Deportivo states: “Pep did not want to let him leave but Man City were cool over his renewal.
“They have since noticed an emptiness in the engine room.
“The German was one of City’s captains, essential in the locker room as well as on the field.
“Intelligent, he slipped between the lines, he was a great passer and creator. He knew what to do at all times. His goals always managed to unclog City.
“Erling Haaland, even, seems less equipped with offensive venom since he left. The Cityzens are having a hard time finding the Norway striker.”
Since moving to Barcelona, Gundogan has played 47 matches and has been credited with five goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
