Five possible replacements for Ederson at Man City
Manchester City could face the prospect of losing Ederson this summer, with the Brazil international reportedly open to a departure.
The 30-year-old has been Man City’s first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Benfica for €40 million in 2017 and he has helped Pep Guardiola’s side win 17 trophies during an illustrious spell at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Ederson could leave the club this summer if he receives an attractive proposal from another club.

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who added that several Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in signing the Man City star as they look to continue poaching the best players from the European game.
The decision will be up to Ederson, but a summer departure is certainly on the cards.
If the Brazilian does leave, Man City will be required to sign a new number one. Below, FootballTransfers runs through five possible options they could pursue.

Stefan Ortega (Man City)
Stefan Ortega has been a reliable contributor whenever he has been called upon by Guardiola, as proven by his immense one-on-one save against Heung-min Son versus Tottenham earlier this month.
The German may not be Man City’s first-choice Ederson replacement, but he is a solid shot-stopper and he is also excellent with the ball at his feet.
As a result, the reigning Premier League champions may not need to sign an Ederson successor at all.
Diogo Costa (Porto)
If Man City decide Ortega isn’t quite good enough to become their new number one, they could turn to Diogo Costa.
The Porto goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, but with Andre Onana now in between the sticks, a move to Old Trafford seems unlikely as things stand.
Therefore, this could allow Man City to swoop and sign one of the most promising young goalkeepers in world football.

Lucas Chevalier (Lille)
Lucas Chevalier is just 22 years old, but he already has three seasons of senior football under his belt - a rarity for goalkeepers of his age.
Furthermore, he has the highest potential SciSkill rating of any goalkeeper in world football, as per data analytics experts SciSports, suggesting Man City would be purchasing a player capable of reaching the pinnacle of the sport.
Chevalier is an excellent ‘keeper and would be a smart replacement for Ederson if Guardiola opts to sign a young option.
Marcin Bulka (Nice)
Former Chelsea youth goalkeeper Marcin Bulka has taken a while to make an impact in senior football, but he has found a home at OGC Nice.
The 24-year-old kept 17 Ligue 1 clean sheets during the 2023-24 season and was a key reason why Nice ended the campaign in fifth place.
He’s a slightly left-field shout, but Bulka is an excellent goalkeeper and wouldn’t cost much at all.
Mike Maignan (AC Milan)
The final option is Mike Maignan. The Frenchman is surprisingly injury prone for a goalkeeper, but there is no doubting his ability when fully fit.
The AC Milan number one is one of the world’s best ‘keepers and Man City would be wise to pursue a move if Ederson does leave.
Maignan is a proven performer on the biggest stage and would arguably make Guardiola’s side an even better team given the superiority of his shot-stopping compared to Ederson.
Milan won’t want to sell, but the France international could be worth whatever price the Italian giants put on his head.
