The youngster, who had breakout campaign for the Red Devils this term, was called up to the provisional England squad by Gareth Southgate ahead of the competition in Germany.

The Daily Star reports that Mainoo is set to sign a new contract at Man Utd following his stunning campaign in which he cemented himself as a regular starter - but he won’t complete any deal until the conclusion of the European Championship, which ends in mid-July.

It’s thought that the fresh terms will see the youngster quadruple his wages to around £80,000-a-week. The contract between the player and the club is agreed to the deal in principle but Mainoo reportedly wants to put negotiations on hold until later this summer.

It comes after the news that Erik ten Hag has been given a stay of execution by Ineos cheif Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

It’s still not clear whether or not the club will decide to sack the Man Utd manager following the season.
