Shock report claims Chelsea have made enquiry over Mason Greenwood
The future of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is set to dominate the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Getafe in LaLiga and is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025.
It’s been reported that United have resolved to sell the versatile attacker this summer and would accept a fee of around £40 million for a player with only one year left on his current deal.
The club would be against losing their academy graduate for free next summer and there is no news regarding any new contract offer from new minority part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Although Getafe would love to keep the England international at the club for another season, they are likely to be blown out of the water by teams offering better financial packages.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are the two Spanish teams most likely to move for Greenwood but new reports suggest even those two clubs are resigned to losing out on his signature.
Marca states that decision makers in the Saudi Pro League are ready to put forward an offer to entice Greenwood to the Middle East in an effort to begin a recruitment drive for talent at the younger end of the age spectrum.
Chelsea make SHOCK Greenwood enquiry
And a shock new report in England now claims that Chelsea are among the teams who have contacted the Red Devils in an attempt to strike a deal.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for a striker who has scored 10 goals and made six assists in 32 games across all competitions for Getafe this season.
United will no doubt sell to the highest bidder and the report from Utd District is significant as it suggests the club are not against selling Greenwood to a Premier League rival.
Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 Manchester United games before moving to Getafe on loan last summer.
