Kieran McKenna doesn't need Man Utd or Chelsea: Here's the proof

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has an enormous decision to make over the next week or so.

Having achieved back-to-back promotions with Ipswich, he was set to spend the summer preparing the club for life in the Premier League.

However, as soon as the news broke that Roberto De Zerbi had parted ways with Brighton, McKenna was linked the Seagulls job.

Then, once Mauricio Pochettino departed Chelsea, it was revealed that he is one of the leading candidates to replace the Argentine.

And, most recently, Manchester United have reportedly made contact with McKenna's representatives in case they decide to sack Erik ten Hag.

So, in the space of a week, the Northern Irishman now has up to four enticing options for his next career move.

Despite interest from Man Utd, Chelsea and Brighton, the best decision that McKenna can make is to stay at Ipswich.

Particularly in the case of United and Chelsea, these are jobs that are often described as 'too good to turn down.'

Even if it does not make sense, managers (and players) are implored to join huge clubs in case the opportunity never arises again.

However, Burnley's Vincent Kompany is proof that this will not be the case for McKenna, even if he struggles at Ipswich next season.

See, Kompany won the Championship with Burnley in the 2022-23 campaign, and his stock was extremely high as a result.

Fast forward to last weekend and his side had just been relegated from the Premier League with a dismal 24 points from 38 games.

Yet, assumedly excused of his latest league finish because of the lack of quality in the Burnley squad, he is now set to become the next Bayern Munich head coach.

So, McKenna may as well stay at Ipswich for another year, where he could earn legendary status if the Tractor Boys stay up, and at the very least gain Premier League experience at no cost to his career prospects.
