Barcelona's Greenwood interest confirmed as Man Utd star agrees to transfer
Getafe's president has confirmed Barcelona's interest in Mason Greenwood and also revealed that the Manchester United outcast is open to extending his loan.
The disgraced Man Utd forward has attempted to resurrect his career in LaLiga with Getafe. After the Red Devils' plans to introduce him back into Erik ten Hag's first team were foiled by public outrage, the Premier League giants decided to offload the 22-year-old to Spain.
Speculation surrounding Greenwood's future has been rampant for months due to the fact that he has been in decent form for his loan club. With his contract up in 2025, Man Utd will need to sell this summer unless they trigger the one-year extension in his deal.

The likes of Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all been said to be keeping tabs on the Englishman, while Getafe have already opened talks over extending his loan by another year.
Now, Getafe president Angel Torres has revealed that it could be 'a long summer' of transfer talks for Greenwood, with his future still far from resolved.
Barca interested, Greenwood open to Getafe stay
Speaking to Radio MARCA, Torres revealed: “If it were up to the boy and his parents, he would continue another year [at Getafe]. Manchester United, the news we have from last week, is that if there is a good offer they would like to sell because he won’t return there."
"So we will have to wait a month and a half or two months, until the end of June, but if it depends on him and the family, they are very happy and very happy with the fans. He hadn’t played for 16 months when he arrived and we’ve got him back, he’s scored eight goals in the league and two in the cup and he’s given a great performance."

“What I think is that he is going to stay. He’s going to stay another year or half a year until January. This year starting from scratch can be a spectacle. The only one I have spoken to about Greenwood, to ask about the possibility [of signing him], is [Barcelona president Joan] Laporta, the day we played, that they like him and so on."
"But of course, to sign, all the teams, not only Barcelona, but Atlético, Getafe, everyone, need to sell and then buy, that’s why it’s going to be a long summer. I spoke to Laporta and [sporting director] Deco, whom I have a good relationship with, but the situation in Spanish football is that first you have to sell to be able to sign and that is the problem that 80% of clubs have."
