Napoli’s top transfer journalist has revealed that Arsenal are still in the race to sign Victor Osimhen this summer.

Vincenzo Credendino, who works for CalcioNapoli24, is arguably the most connected Naples-based transfer journalist.

Speaking on The Italian Football Podcast, Credendino explained how Osimhen will definitely be sold by Napoli this summer and that the release clause in his contract is €120 million.

Credendino explained that there are three possible destinations for Osimhen.

The most likely destination is PSG, who are looking for a top-class replacement for Kylian Mbappe who is joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Second in the race are Arsenal, who are still interested in signing Osimhen despite reports elsewhere that they considered the Nigerian too expensive.

The Gunners have made the signing of a top-class number nine a priority this summer, and have this week missed out on first-choice target Benjamin Sesko after he agreed to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig. Another target in Joshua Zirkzee is also likely to join AC Milan.

The third possible destination for Osimhen is Saudi Arabia, with Credendino adding that former admirers Chelsea are no longer interested currently.

Osimhen to leave Napoli

Osimhen has decided to leave Napoli this summer, and the Italian club have also agreed to sell to fund new manager Antonio Conte’s transfer campaign.

The 25-year-old saw his relationship with Napoli sour this last season, following the TikTok scandal in which the club’s own social media team mocked his penalty miss with Bologna.

Osimhen had a largely difficult season on the pitch, while Napoli endured a disastrous defence of the Scudetto they won in the 2022-23 season as they finished 10th in Serie A.

The Nigerian had been a key player in the Scudetto campaign, scoring 26 league goals in 32 games.
