Arsenal learn Bruno Guimaraes release clause expiry date - Romano
Arsenal will have less than a day to meet the expiry of Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause.
The Newcastle star inserted a release clause worth £100 million into his contract but Fabrizio Romano reports that it will expire tonight at 23.59pm UK time.
Newcastle do not wish to lose the Brazil international this summer, despite interest from Manchester City and Arsenal.

Since he arrived from Lyon in January 2022, Guimaraes has become Newcastle's standout player, helping them secure Champions League qualification and reach the Carabao Cup final last year. He is known for his versatility in midfield - the fact he can play as No.8, No.6, or a No.10 when needed.
But a significant challenge for Newcastle is that the 26-year-old's current contract includes a £100m release clause

But the deal will run out after today and clubs will have to make bids to sign him. Newcastle will be free to set any transfer fee if a club expresses interest in signing Guimaraes.

Several top European clubs have been linked with Guimaraes, including Arsenal, who are looking to replace Thomas Partey, as well as Man City.
The Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is keen to add Guimaraes to his formidable midfield line-up, which already includes Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Matheus Nunes.

Guardiola’s Man City have won the Premier League title for the last four seasons in a row and are always looking to keep their side ticking along as one of the best in Europe.
The former Barcelona coach is reportedly an admirer of Guimaraes and wants to sign him, even though he only signed a new five-year contract with Newcastle last year.
Guimaraes scored seven goals last season in the Premier League along with his eight assists as the club finished in seventh place, missing out on European football.
