€100m Arsenal transfer: Championship side DESPERATE for deal to go through
Coventry City will be hoping that Arsenal complete the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish striker hit in Portugal like a bomb, becoming one of the deadliest players in Europe at Sporting CP. Gyokeres is coming off a stunning debut season in which he notched an absurd 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 competitive outings.
This, naturally, put him firmly on the radar of elite clubs around Europe. For several months, Gyokeres was considered Arsenal's top summer target, but as FootballTransfers exclusively revealed, the Gunners eventually moved on to the cheaper and younger Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian, however, ultimately decided to snub the Gunners and his other Premier League suitors and signed a new RB Leipzig contract instead. Arsenal have subsequently opted to prioritise the signing of a No.6 over a No.9, but they nevertheless remain on the lookout for a new centre-forward.
Gyokeres boasts a €100 million release clause, which is why the Gunners have been reluctant to make a move, but he is still on their radar and one club in particular will be keen for the north London giants to snap him up.
Coventry eye windfall
The side in question are Coventry City, who sold Gyokeres to Sporting CP last summer for around €21m. New details of the transaction are now emerging and it is being claimed that the Championship side included a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.
This means that Coventry could earn a solid €10m from a summer transfer of the 26-year-old, with Sporting unwilling to settle for anything less than his €100m release clause.

Coventry had paid just €1.2m for the Swede in 2021, meaning that they could make a profit of as much as €29.8m on Gyokeres. The striker also previously lined up for Brighton and Swansea in the English pyramid, so he is no stranger to the domestic game, making him potentially very attractive to Arsenal.
