Arsenal are said to be one of FIVE teams interested in signing Joshua Kimmich, with Bayern Munich willing to sell their star man this summer, although the Gunners will face stiff competition for the German international.

Kimmich is entering the final 12 months of his contract in Munich and is unlikely to sign a new deal with the club that he has been at since 2015.

Talks over the 29-year-old’s future are not expected to take place until after his involvement at EURO 2024, however Sky Sport Germany have revealed that Bayern are ‘open’ to cashing in on the world-class midfielder this summer.

The report claims five teams are of interest to Kimmich, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona all ready to pounce if Bayern do consider a sale.

However, Kimmich is described as having ‘no problem’ playing next season at Bayern without signing an extension and then leaving on a free transfer in 2025.

Kimmich open to departure after admitting his ‘trust’ in Bayern is ‘lost

Kimmich has established himself as one of the standout midfielders in world football, having scored 42 goals and provided 104 assists in 390 games across all competitions for Bayern.

Having won the Champions League in 2020 along with 19 other trophies, Kimmich is thought to be open to a new challenge, with no shortage of suitors for a player who often featured as a right-back for Bayern last season.

Although no fee has been quoted in the recent report over his future, Kimmich is likely to command a fee in excess of €50 million, however some teams may prefer to hold off in the hopes he will be available on a free next summer.

Kimmich recently admitted that his trust in Bayern had been damaged due to the club opting against supporting him when he revealed his hesitance over taking the COVID vaccine in 2021.

“I felt left alone for too long. I've been at the club for almost seven years now and there haven't been that many scandals surrounding me. That was the first downturn, that's when I noticed how the club reacted and I was accordingly disappointed and hurt,” Kimmich revealed in a recent documentary surrounding the situation.

“The sense of trust I had in the club before has of course been lost. I never know what will be leaked to the public. It’s not like the trust can be rebuilt over one or two conversations.”
