The Slovenia international, who will be handed an opportunity to impress at Euro 2024, is wanted by both Arsenal and Chelsea, while Newcastle United have been linked with a swoop too.

The two London clubs appear to be leading the race for Sesko’s signature, however, with Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca keen to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Sesko netted 14 goals and provided two assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances during his debut season at Leipzig last year, and is regarded as one of the biggest talents in the world.

The 22-year-old currently has a €65 million release clause inserted into his Leipzig contract, and he is expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit before the summer transfer window ends.

Arsenal have been the favourites to sign Sesko for several months, and have identified the Slovenian as their number one striker target, but Chelsea have sent an offer to his representatives and are currently waiting for a response.

Although Sesko plays through the middle as a number nine, former Chelsea and Aston Villa forward Tony Cascarino believes the Leipzig star has a similar play style to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

What has been said?

“He [Sesko] is 6ft 4in, 6ft 5in. He is a big lad, powerful as well, and he can dribble,” Cascarino said on TalkSPORT.

“For someone who is 6ft 5in, he runs with the ball unbelievably. He gets linked to being similar to Haaland, but if you watch him play, he dribbles like Ryan Giggs.

“He will run at people and he will literally go around them. That’s the extraordinary thing he has got. I have not seen a 6ft 5in player play like him.

“I have seen him in wide positions. He is not as traditional as a number nine, but he can certainly go into a deep area and pick up the ball and he will go past people."
