Chelsea name Gallagher asking price as Villa and Spurs face surprise rival for England ace
Chelsea are poised to sell Conor Gallagher this summer, with Aston Villa and Tottenham expected among the suitors for the midfielder.
Gallagher is considered to be surplus to demands by the Chelsea board, although he was a favourite of previous manager Mauricio Pochettino, whose departure has opened the door for the England star to depart.
Under contract until 2025, there are currently no new contract talks for the 24-year-old, who will be eligible to depart for nothing in 12 months if the Blues cannot find a buyer.

Ben Jacobs has outlined the player’s situation as it currently stands.
Chelsea, he claims on GiveMeSport, are open to selling for a price of €58.75 million (£50m). The Blues have put this figure on the player based on the deal they struck for Mason Mount, who moved to Manchester United last summer in similar circumstances.
Aston Villa, whose interest was confirmed by David Ornstein, have opened talks with the player, while Spurs are also monitoring the issue.
Villa could use Jhon Duran as a makeweight in a transfer, although Chelsea’s preference is for a straight deal. The Blues, however, are still keeping an eye on the forward.

Tottenham, meanwhile, wanted Gallagher last summer for €41m but their Stamford Bridge rivals have put a higher price on the player now.
There is other interest in the former Crystal Palace loan star, however.
Atletico Madrid are a potential option for Gallagher, although the transfer fee is liable to prove too great for them.
Newcastle see him as a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, but Jacobs stresses that a deal here is unlikely because Gallagher may have moved on by the time the Brazil international moves on, if indeed he goes anywhere.
Chelsea in no rush to sell
Chelsea, though, are not going to rush a sale, even if they are open to striking a bargain before Euro 2024 begins next week.
With the club confident they are not about to breach the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), there is no need to offload the player before the 30 June accounting deadline.
Instead, Chelsea want to maximise Gallagher’s fee and could wait until after the European Championship in the hope that he impresses Germany.
