Atletico Madrid eye SHOCK move for Chelsea star
Atletico Madrid are eyeing up a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to reports in Spain.
The England international has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge departure over the past few months and Diego Simeone’s side are now eager to pounce amid his uncertain future in west London.
Gallagher, who played the final 21 minutes of England’s Euro 2024 win over Serbia on Sunday night, has just one year left on his current Chelsea contract and the club are reportedly hoping to sell him this summer.

The former Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Charlton Athletic loanee is keen to remain with the Blues, however, meaning a summer exit is not a foregone conclusion as things stand.
Despite this, Atletico Madrid are monitoring Gallagher’s situation and have made a move to sign him, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.
The LaLiga giants have reportedly contacted Chelsea regarding a possible move for the 24-year-old, although their pursuit of his signature remains in the early stages.

Will Conor Gallagher leave Chelsea?
Ahead of England’s Euro 2024 opener, Gallagher was asked about rumours of a Chelsea exit, but he was eager to downplay links of a summer departure.
“I'm a Chelsea player right now and I am just focused on England and the tournament,” he said.
“It is not difficult, I'm in a very privileged position to be at a tournament like this and I couldn't be happier with my situation.”
Atletico Madrid will, however, face competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, who are also interested in signing Gallagher. The England international made 50 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.
In addition to their pursuit of Gallagher, Atletico Madrid are hoping to sign Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand and Girona forward Artem Dovbyk as they look to challenge for honours next campaign.
Simeone’s side finished fourth in LaLiga last season, a distant 19 points behind title winners and fierce rivals Real Madrid.
