Bayern Munich are interested in Levi Colwill, according to German media.

The Chelsea star is one of Europe's most highly-rated defensive talents and the Blues made sure to tie him to the club long-term last year. After arousing plenty of interest off the back of a successful loan at Brighton, Colwill committed his future to Chelsea until 2029 in August.

At the time, Liverpool were heavily interested in the versatile, left-footed defender. That attraction has never gone away and tentative links with an Anfield switch have repeatedly cropped up in recent months.

This is despite the fact that Chelsea essentially consider the 21-year-old 'untouchable' and 'unsellable.' However, because of his age and ability to play at left-back and centre-back, Colwill remains a sought-after commodity despite the Blues' assertions.

In fact, it is now being claimed that new suitors have appeared.

Bayern want Colwill

At least that is according to Florian Plettenberg, who states that Bayern Munich are long-time admirers of the Chelsea youngster. The Sky Germany journalist reports that the Bavarians could launch an offensive for Colwill this summer.

Bayern, it is claimed, are 'seriously considering a transfer,' with the Englishman the top alternative to Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah. Plettenberg even claims that the Munich outfit could attempt to sign both.

What's more, it is asserted that preliminary talks over a move have already taken place. However, it seems unlikely that Chelsea would soften their stance on Colwill even though they need to raise funds this summer.

If Colwill was untouchable last year, why should it be different this time around? Moreover, Chelsea would surely demand an extortionate fee, something Bayern may not be able to muster after splashing €150 million last term. Bayern are ready to offload six big-name stars to fund transfers, but a move for Colwill would devour most if not all of their summer budget.
