The Crystal Palace star is the subject of one of the Premier League's biggest transfer battles this summer. Chelsea are squaring up with Man Utd for his signature, though the player himself would actually prefer a move to a Champions League side.

Nevertheless, the race to sign him seems to be coming down to these two English giants, with the star's €70 million release clause allowing his suitors to bypass the always tough negotiations with Crystal Palace.

Olise has been Man Utd's top target for some time, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe personally greenlighting the deal upon acquiring a minority stake in the club. However, in recent days, Chelsea have surged into pole position quite simply due to the fact that they have a settled coaching department.

Man Utd are yet to make a decision on the future of Erik ten Hag and the drawn-out nature of this process has led to consternation among some of their transfer targets, with talks having been put on hold. Now, their dallying could cost them dearly.

Chelsea agree terms

According to GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea have now agreed personal terms with Olise ahead of a potential transfer. As they can sign him by simply triggering his release clause, terms with the player were the biggest hurdle for a move.

It is claimed that the Blues are now discussing the scheduling of payments with Palace, though the report makes sure to mention that a deal is far from done. Nevertheless, major progress has been made.

It was relatively easy for Chelsea to find common ground with the player as the two parties already had an agreement last summer. Chelsea eventually pulled out of the deal, with Palace accusing them of having tapped up Olise, but much of the groundwork for the current accord had already been laid 12 months ago.
