Levi Colwill to quit Chelsea? The state of play - Fabrizio Romano
Levi Colwill will not be leaving Chelsea this summer, amidst reports of a bid from Bayern Munich.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who says that the England defender is not for sale this summer.
Reports in Germany emerged on Monday evening that Bayern are going in for the centre back.
Florian Plettenberg stated that Bayern Munich are long-time admirers of the Chelsea youngster.
The Sky Germany journalist reported that the Bavarians could launch an offensive for Colwill this summer.
Bayern, it is claimed, are 'seriously considering a transfer,' with the Englishman the top alternative to Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah. Plettenberg even claims that the Munich outfit could attempt to sign both.
Pettenberg also reported that preliminary talks over a move have already taken place.
But Romano has knocked down Pettenberg.
What did Romano say?
“Understand Chelsea position on Levi Colwill remains same as last summer: no plans to sell him,” Romano said.
“Despite interest from several top clubs, Colwill is again considered important part of Chelsea project and a key player for their future, Bayern keep working on Jonathan Tah.”
Colwill returned to Chelsea last summer after a successful loan spell at Brighton.
The Chelsea star is one of Europe's most highly-rated defensive talents and the Blues made sure to tie him to the club long term last year until 2029.
Liverpool were heavily interested in the versatile, left-footed defender a year ago but Chelsea rejected their interest.
According to Romano, it will be the same this summer if Bayern do indeed step up their reported interest.
Chelsea have already signed a centre back this summer in Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer.
