Salah's heir? Liverpool eye surprise €45m transfer for Arne Slot favourite
There is little chance that Yankuba Minteh's future lies with his current employer Newcastle United.
The Gambian winger, who played on loan at Feyenoord last season, can leave the Magpies. Newcastle United are reaching the limits of the Financial Fair Play regulations and will therefore have to allow for the departure of several valuable players. Liverpool could take advantage of this situation.
In Rotterdam, Minteh became a crowd favourite and played a total of 37 games under Arne Slot, who will be coach at Liverpool next season. He scored eleven goals and recorded six assists.

Minteh's good performances have not gone unnoticed by several top clubs and according to The Telegraph, several clubs are about to contact Newcastle United for the Gambian.
Liverpool want Minteh
One of those clubs is Liverpool. The Reds are planning for life after Mohamed Salah, who though he may not leave this summer, will eventually depart in the long term and they want to bring in a suitable successor.
Salah, 31 years old, has been under contract with Liverpool since 2017 and has won every prize there is to win with the club. Last season, the attacker was also invaluable to Jürgen Klopp's team and scored 25 goals in 44 games.

According to the above-mentioned report, an amount of €45 million is needed to free Minteh from Newcastle United. A lot more than the €8m the Magpies paid to Odense BK in 2023 for his arrival. Newcastle United would prefer to continue with Minteh for longer, but due to the FFP rules, they have no choice but to consider a departure.
Minteh is not the only right-winger on Liverpool's radar. English media have made a list of six potential players who could strengthen Slot's squad this summer. In addition to Minteh, this list includes names such as Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and Matías Soulé (Frosinone, loaned from Juventus).
In addition to this quartet, PSV's Johan Bakayoko is also still in the picture at Liverpool. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that the Reds are one of 'six or seven clubs' keeping tabs on the Belgian, who is likely to be on the move this summer.
